Category 1 applicants:
If you are renewing an existing OFTEC qualification, you are considered to be a Category 1 applicant.
Training prior to undertaking assessment is not mandatory, however in most cases it is recommended to ensure that operatives are aware of the most recent changes to legislation, British Standards and industry best practice. It should be noted that attendance for training will not influence the independent impartial assessment which is carried out under the control of a recognised certification body.
Evidence of your existing OFTEC qualification/s (photocopy of your certificate/s) is required for all Category 1 applicants.
Important Note: If candidates are returning to extend their range within 12 months of previous assessment, there is no requirement to attend day 1 or 600a Underpinning Knowledge revision.
Category 2 applicants:
You are considered to be a Category 2 applicant if ONE of the following applies to you:
- You already hold an OFTEC qualification and wish to add further categories.
- You have recognised qualifications and experience in plumbing, heating and ventilation or gas.
Category 2 Applicants must undertake training prior to assessment.
Please note:- OFTEC Training is a prerequisite to OFTEC Assessment.
