EOGB engineer wins ‘Trainee of the Year’ award

EOGB engineer Reece Summerfield has been crowned ‘Trainee of the Year’ at the 2016 HVR Awards.

The trainee award, which is new for this year, recognises an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievement, commitment and personal development. It aims to find the rising stars in the industry who consistently go the extra mile for the overall benefit of their team and employer.

Reece started from scratch in the heating industry and has since completed a bespoke training programme at EOGB, gaining as much knowledge as possible and putting it into practice through practical on-the-job learning. He is now a fully-qualified combustion engineer and has also recently achieved an NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, enabling him to assess occupational competence and teach others at the EOGB training centre in Cambridgeshire.

Commenting on his win, Reece said: “I’m over the moon to have received this award. Getting to where I am now has been a lot of hard work but I’m really pleased with my progress over the last few years and I can’t thank EOGB enough for their help and support along the way.”

Martin Cooke, Technical Director at EOGB, said: “Congratulations to Reece on this well-deserved award. He has overcome his initial belief that a new career was out of reach for him and has thrown himself into learning with 100% dedication and commitment. The sky’s the limit!”

The HVR Awards were held at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel in London on Thursday 27th October.
