Engineers get hands-on experience at Baltur in Italy

EOGB Baltur Course

Nine UK heating engineers have returned from a week-long specialist burner training course at the world-renowned Baltur development facility in Northern Italy.

The course, which is run annually by EOGB, covers commercial burners with outputs from 50kW – 2000kW. Other aspects include commissioning, gas valve set up, modulating controls, burner matching, and fault finding.

Unlike the UK, which is limited in the number of places that large burners can be fired for long periods of time, the Baltur the facility is equipped with cooling towers so burners can run for several hours if required. This enables engineers to get to grips with combustion settings without worrying about heat load.

Steve Hucker from Southwest Peninsular Training, who attended the course, said: “I would without question recommend this course to any engineer who wishes to extend their knowledge of oil, gas, and dual-fuel burners. I especially liked the amount of hands-on training in the workshop rather than too much classroom-based theory.”

Martin Cooke, Technical Manager at EOGB said: “Our commercial burner training in Italy is always very popular and is a great way for engineers to gain practical experience, which is invaluable for any engineer currently working, or looking to work on, commercial forced draft burners. We look forward to welcoming another group next summer.”

The next Italy training trip will be in July 2016. For more details call 01480 477066 or email training@eogb.co.uk.
