EOGB Training Courses – Gas, Oil and Burner Training
It is essential for heating installers and engineers to constantly update their skills and keep up with developments in the industry. To support this, EOGB offers a whole range of specialist training including burner training courses, OFTEC training courses and gas-based courses.
Our courses are tailored to the requirements of both individuals and companies and are run from our own purpose-built training centre in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. If required, we can offer one-to-one training and assessments and can create tailored courses to suit both new entrants and more experienced engineers.
Every year we also run popular commercial burner training courses in Bologna, Italy, at the premises of Baltur, who are known globally as leading manufacturers of burners for boilers.
Here is an overview of some of the courses we offer:
Burner Training Courses
At our training facility in St Neots, we offer one-day domestic burner training, suited to both new entrants and established heating engineers. Because we manufacture the XSeries domestic burner range, we are able to pass on additional product knowledge and provide invaluable advice and technical support. Engineers often prefer learning from manufacturers as they are the best people to advise on how to fix their product.
We also run commercial gas burner training in Bologna on an annual basis, which provides engineers with the practical skills they need for the reality of working on commercial plants. The week-long course is run from the Baltur research facility and covers oil, gas and dual-fuel burners as well as single stage, two stage and modulating variants.
Gas Training Courses
Our ACS training course is aimed at experienced gas engineers and covers the CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1 and CPA1 modules – both for initial assessment and re-assessment.
We keep our classes small (a maximum of 6 people) to ensure attendees get the support and quality training they require.
New entrant gas training
As well as ACS training for experienced gas engineers, we also offer an initial ten-day new entrant gas course that is suited to people who are completely new to the industry, as well as others who have been working in related industries, such as plumbing, and want a career change.
This course covers topics such as gas safety regulations, fire installation practices and combustion theory and, once completed successfully, leads on to ACS training.
It is extremely important for engineers working with oil heating to be registered with the Oil Firing Technical Association (OFTEC). OFTEC is the trade body for the oil heating industry and an OFTEC registration reassures consumers as it shows the engineer is competent in their work.
Holding OFTEC qualifications also shows best practice in the industry and helps engineers and installers to stay up to date with legislation and new developments.
At EOGB in St Neots we offer three oil-based courses:
- OFTEC covers the core 101, 102, 105E and 600a modules and is made up of both practical and theory-based training and assessments
- OFTEC 50 is a three day course suited to operatives with less experience of domestic oil installations
- Domestic burners is a one day course suitable for both newcomers and established engineers which focuses solely on giving engineers practical burner experience
EOGB’s expertise as a burner manufacturer means that all of the above courses include practical burner training at no extra cost.
Water Systems and Energy Efficiency Courses
At EOGB we also offer two water systems training courses – water regulations and hot water safety and systems (unvented). These courses complement the heating courses and enable engineers to self-certify their water system installations.
We also provide energy efficiency training and this is also essential for installers wanting to self-certify their work rather than pay Building Control.
As well as our burner training and other courses, at EOGB we are flexible and happy to arrange other specialist courses to meet specific demands. To discuss your requirements, please contact us.
