Course information:

The EOGB ACS gas training course covers CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1 and CPA1 initial assessment or reassessment. Each class is small, with no more than six attendees and includes 2 days of refresher training.

  • CENWAT – central heating boilers and water heaters
  • CKR1 – gas cookers
  • HTR1 – gas fires
  • DAH1- ducted warm air (an additional £95 + VAT)

Anyone wanting to work within the gas industry must be deemed competent under the ACS scheme and be registered with gas safe, either personally or under a company registration.

To be classed as competent, anyone wishing to become registered must have experience in the gas industry and be a practising heating engineer that can prove their qualifications and experience and has built up a portfolio of evidence covering a wide range of gas practices, that has been undertaken alongside a registered engineer. Once accepted for assessment the engineer will undergo a theory and practical examination process to satisfy the ACS criteria for competence.

Upon successful completion of the ACS gas training assessment, the engineer can join the Gas Safe Register and, once accepted, will be allowed to work on gas installations and appliances. Once registered, engineers require reassessment every five years to ensure that all engineers are still working and are up-to-date with industry standards as required by the health and safety directive.
