Combustion Control Technology

With strict legislation that sets stringent limits on the amount of harmful Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions produced by heating systems, some innovative ‘add-on’ technologies are available to combat NOx production.

O2 Trim
O2 trim adds or reduces either fuel or air (depending on the system used) to compensate for changes in combustion variables. For each point on the combustion profile, there is an O2 setpoint. If the O2
reading for any point increases, then air is reduced, or fuel added, to bring the process variable back to the setpoint. If the O2 decreases the opposite happens.

CO Contol

CO Control takes a more empirical approach than O2 Trim, enabling combustion systems to get closer to stoichiometric conditions whilst remaining safe. A self-adapting algorithm optimises the fuel/air ratio over the entire firing range. It ‘learns’ each point on the programmed combustion curve by reducing air to the point where CO is detected and then ‘backing-off’’ to a safe setpoint. Each ’learned’ point has a lifetime of eight hours after which it is ‘learned’ again. This ensures that if external conditions have improved then the CO Control will readapt to compensate for this and increase efficiency.

New Reversible Oil Filter

Due to popular demand, we are pleased to announce that we have an exciting new addition to our bio-green filter range – the Reversible oil filter.

We have redesigned our long-established filter head to allow it to havereversible flow direction without the use of any additional brackets.

Installations can now be far more simplified and neater, while filtering the fuel correctly. They also retain the traditional 10-micron filter bowl that has been the industry’s top choice for many years

The new reversible filter is available in ¼” and 3/8th with short and long filter bowls. EOGB’s customers can purchase it from Stockists throughout the UK.

The Importance of the OFTEC 201 Qualification

Do you work on two-stage Oil Burners?

If yes, then the OFTEC 201 course is a must-have qualification.

This 3-day course is for technicians who wish to service and commission two and three-stage pressure-jet burners, such as those fitted to some large domestic and light commercial boilers and warm air heaters.

The course covers health and safety, regional legislation and requirements, safe electrical isolation, oil storage and supply knowledge, and practical servicing and commissioning.

Here at EOGB, we also provide extra burner manufacturer training and a Manufacturer’s Product Training Certificate within the OFTEC 201 training and assessment package to fully satisfy the requirements of BS5410 part 2.
